What a Difference

What a difference a year makes. When we started school this past fall, we actually knew where to turn on the lights and where to find the auditorium. The crazy room numbering system we inherited from the architects seemed almost normal. "Advisory," "Jag Time" and "Green Day" (as opposed to "Silver Day") were part of our common vocabulary. And if someone said she'd meet you in the Coral Reef during 2nd Jag, chances are you'd find her.

What a difference a year makes. This year, we can recognize our own victory song when the band plays it, and some of us can even sing the words. Hardly anybody asks whether Emerald Ridge is a casino anymore, and once in awhile somebody actually finds our campus without a Global Positioning System. We have started to fill up our display cases with real trophies. And people sit up and take note when the Jaguars make their entrance - in art and music contests, at DECA and journalism competitions, on the athletic field.

What a difference a year makes. We have a history. We have begun to establish traditions. Best of all, we have an awesome senior class, our first ever who will become our first ERHS graduates and our first alumni. What a difference a year makes. And what a great year it has been, thanks to the leadership of the Class of 2002. Our hats are off to you.
